Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Wedding – Lauren Kaye Photography

Here’s another wedding that I photographed with Emma Rose this past summer.  It was a lovely wedding, although I will always think of it as the wedding that took place on the hottest day of the year.  Plus the bride had been in the Emergency room for most of the night – I think she was released around 3 am.  The air conditioning in the limo was broken, and we were all melting, but no one complained even for a second.  We were all just way too delighted to be celebrating the wedding these two had worked so hard to make happen.  We popped over to Dartmouth to do some photos at the train tracks, and even caught a train passing by.  Fun!  Here’s a couple of the shots from the day:

Saraguay House Wedding – Halifax Wedding Photography

Hello!  Here’s some pics from a wedding that I did this past summer.  I have a couple of these – they are weddings that I did with Emma Rose, of Emma Rose Photography – and I thought it would be nice to share them here, while we wait for Summer to return.  The first one I am going to share was a wedding at Saraguay House in Halifax.  It’s a lovely venue – right on the water, and the perfect spot to watch your own, private fireworks display.  Why not, right?  It was a beautiful day, and a very sweet, fun-loving couple.  My only regret?  Somehow I missed out on that cake! (Have I mentioned how much I love cake?)

Halifax Newborn Photography – Baby Evelyn

It was my honour and privilege to be able to meet baby Evelyn and her parents in Dartmouth, and take pictures of this new little family.  Those first few days with a newborn are so… full.  Babies have a way of changing everything, and I honestly don’t think you can ever truly be prepared for what’s to come.  And then, just when you feel like you’ve got something figured out, they go ahead and change the rules on you!  And in the end, it doesn’t matter.  The only thing that matters is the love.  Because, truly, you’ve never loved someone like this in your entire life.  You know (and they know) you would do anything for them. You’ll even catch their poo (good job, Jessica!) (and good job Evelyn – that’s one way to get your parents to laugh for the camera!) This is what love looks like.

Lauren, these are beautiful … Evelyn is a beauty and it is so clear the love and trust is shared. Lovely.

Middleton Engagement Photos – Amanda & Chris

None of us knew what to expect as we pulled off onto the dirt road that would lead us to Amanda’s Mom’s friend’s property, just outside of Middleton, so I was overjoyed to turn into the driveway of this little gem – the snow, the woods, the barns – a photographer’s dream come true (this photographer, anyway!)  The snow was piled high, but the air was warm, and I had a blast taking pictures of these two.

And Amanda and Chris are just the sweetest couple you could ever hope to meet (or photograph!) – they spent the entire session giving each other sweet secret smiles, and making each other laugh.  Thanks guys – I’m super excited for your wedding in August!  Click HERE to see them all.

Halifax Engagement Photography – Jaclyn & Chris

I managed to get together with Jaclyn and Chris on the last day of 2012, for an engagement session in the beautiful city of Halifax.  We were hoping for snow, and we got it!  Unfortunately we also got breath-stealing, finger-numbing, eye-watering cold!  It felt even colder to these two, who are used to the balmy temperatures of Australia, no doubt.  My initial idea to do a photo shoot at the Halifax Oval (I could just picture lacing skates, sipping hot chocolate, a lingering kiss while others skated by…) just wasn’t going to work.

These two were great, though – it didn’t phase them one bit to have to come up with something new, on the fly!  We piled into my car (after moving one child car seat, and about a thousand goldfish crackers – Sorry Chris!) and headed over to the Brewery Market, for some pictures and a quick Keiths.  Then it was down to Spring Garden, for some sparkly night shots, and finally to the Lord Nelson for a beautiful end to the evening.  What fun!  A little mini-tour of some of Halifax’s best indoor locations.  Thanks for hanging in there, guys – I hope you’ll agree it was all worth it!  There’s no cold in these pictures – just love, love, and more love!

It was so hard to pick just a couple of these pics, they were all so gorgeous.  In the end, I basically closed my eyes and picked some.  Enjoy your Sneak Peek! Click HERE to see them all.
