Breanne & Ryan – Old Orchard Inn Wedding, Wolfville, NS

It was so much fun to get to photograph Breanne and Ryan’s wedding in parts of Kentville, New Minas, and Wolfville.  Breanne and Ryan travelled all the way from Sudbury, Ontario to Nova Scotia for their wedding, so they could get married among Breanne’s family and friends.  This meant that Breanne was getting ready for her wedding day in the house she grew up in.  There’s just, for me, something wonderful in this idea.  The same staircase that she toddled up as a baby, ran down as a child, and probably stomped down as a teenager, she’s now descending elegantly in her wedding dress.  Breanne, you were a gorgeous bride!  And Shannon you did a wonderful job putting all this together – from the vintage car, to the gorgeous candy table, to the framed family photos, there were a lot of beautiful touches for a photographer to play with!

Plus, Jai (my husband) and I got to do this one together.  Jai, you rocked it!  (must have had a good teacher!)  So, without further ado, here’s the Sneak Peek of their day…

Candice & Stuart – Annapolis Valley Wedding

What a sweet wedding this was – full of handmade touches and super sweet details.  Candice and Stuart really put a lot of themselves into their Big Day – the very best kind.  There were handpainted signs, there was a burlap aisle, a horse-drawn carriage ride, handmade benches, and homemade wine.  She even had a bag of props (!)

And I think it’s safe to say that everyone there had a really good time.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crowded dance floor, for every single song.  They’ve just surrounded themselves with fun-loving and good-natured people.  Kaitlyn and I were glad to be a part of it.  Even the weather co-operated, and the rain held off until we were on the way back to the reception.  Just like I ordered 🙂

Enjoy your Sneak Peek guys! And Congratulations!

The Four Brothers Family Session – Coldbrook, NS

When Jennifer e-mailed me from California, it got the wheels in my head turning.  Her family was having a little reunion on the East Coast, and she was unable to attend.  My family is having a little reunion on the West Coast, and I am unable to attend.  She wanted pictures of her family getting together (in particular the four brothers who hadn’t been together in years).  I want pictures of all my family getting together without me, too!  My Mom and I are now scheming to get a photographer at our family reunion, and I have Jennifer to thank.  So, thank you, Jennifer!  I hope the photos I took do justice to the event, and make you feel like you were, in some way, able to be there.  It was my honour to hang out with your family for an evening!

Here’s a little Sneak Peek:

Valley Wedding Showcase – the 2013 Collection

Hello again!  I’m so excited to share this with you!  It’s been in the works for a while – ever since those dreary days of Winter, when Summer seemed so far away.  When Erica, of Simply Vintage Love (see her and Derek’s wedding here – so gorgeous!) approached me to see if I would be interested in putting something together with her, to showcase local valley wedding vendors, I instantly said “YES!”  And it came together brilliantly.  Erica came up with a theme – “Let Love Bloom” – and we were on our way.  Everything possible was sourced locally here in the Valley – including our gorgeous couple – Jenna and Jay, you guys are so awesome.  Here’s the pics, with a full list of sources at the bottom of the post.  Enjoy!

Thanks so much to everyone who participated!  Honestly, I could go on and on about these vendors.  If you are planning a wedding in the Valley any time soon, you should check them out – they are all wonderful to work with!   If you want to see the full set of photos, CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM ALL!

Bridgetown Tea Party Photo Shoot

The other night, during all that rain, we had a beautiful sunny moment.  It was brief, it happened at bedtime, but it was too good to resist.  There was no time to change clothes, or make special treats, there was barely enough time to put out the table and chairs.  Nevertheless, the Universe was calling out for a tea party, and so, of course, I whipped out my camera and snapped a few shots.

When my dad uttered these words, my eight-year-old self would fly into a flurry of excitement. A treat meant ice cream. And ice cream meant Peaceful Meadows, a dairy farm in Massachusetts (my homeland). Not only does Peaceful Meadows have amazing ice cream treats, but it also has cows. Lots of them to watch whilst enjoying your Coconut Chocolate Almond Hot Fudge Sundae with extra (and homemade) whipped cream. Nothing better in the world even now that I’m all grown up.
