The McCleans – Wolfville Family Photography

Lauren originally contacted me in the Fall of 2014.  She was shopping for her Mother for Christmas, and thought her and her brother would like to purchase a family session as a gift.  So, I think they might deserve a reward of some kind for most thoughtful children ever.  Seriously, I wish I was that thoughtful.  Sorry, Mom!  It’s good that I get to meet people like Lauren, who can inspire me to do better next year!

They wanted to do something relaxed, a lifestyle shoot, showing how they hang out together.   A Saturday morning crossword session in the family home, it was.

Is it any wonder I think I have the best job in the World?

Avery & Zak’s Maternity Session – Wolfville, NS

Avery and Zak did warn me that I should be prepared for a hike in the snow – these guys were clearly experienced pros.  I, on the other hand… well, I only fell twice 🙂  It was, of course, totally worth it, as you can see from these photos.   And luckily for me, Avery is an amazing chef, and had the foresight to fortify me with the best apple pancakes I’ve ever had, first.  Needless to say, I am very excited to meet the newest addition to their family, when he arrives!

Annapolis Valley Family Photography – the Brooks Family Sneak Peek

What a delight it was to meet the Brooks Family on a sunny February morning.  It’s always wonderful when families are so easily able to relax and laugh together, even when I am lurking around with my camera.  These guys were pros! (it does help to have a photographer in the family, I’m sure!)  The time just flew by, and we were able to capture some real laughs, real joy at being together, and real tender togetherness, too.  Sweet like honey, you guys – thanks for having me over!

Annapolis Valley Family Photography

Just after Christmas I got the chance to photograph this beautiful family, while they were all together again.  They were so kind and welcoming as we shuffled about the house some of them grew up in, sneaking photos here and there.  It always warms my heart when someone purchases a family photo session for their parents.  I imagine it feels wonderful, as a parent, knowing that your children value spending time with you so much that they would like to have a document of it.  I imagine, as a parent, that, while you cherish every family photo, those ones would be just slightly more meaningful.  Fingers crossed, I get to find out first-hand one day. For now, I am happy to do my part, on the other side of the lens 🙂

Hope you enjoy this little Sneak Peek!

Ed Arsenault - January 6, 2015 - 7:19 pm

Hi Lauren
I just wanted to let you know how everyone in our family was so pleased with the outstanding quality of you photographs! We also really appreciated your approach to taking the photos. We can’t wait to see the whole package.

Thanks again,

Engagement Photography in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

I admit it, sometimes as a photographer (and, yes, a person) I am not at my most eloquent.  Luckily for me, Blair seemed to automatically understand what my intentions were, just from a few random words and gestures.  I would say something like, “Can you step…” and gesture towards Carly, and he would sweep in, and wrap her in his arms.  Or, “A little more,” and he would squeeze her even closer, before I had finished my sentence.  Yes!  That’s exactly what I meant. That’s pretty much exactly what I always mean.

Plus, we had a lovely, overcast but rain-free day over in Annapolis Royal for this engagement shoot, reminding me once again why I love those gloomy grey days (and I’m sure it has nothing to do with growing up in the West Coast) – check out these colours.  They make my heart sing.  Just like these two.  I can’t wait for your wedding, Carly and Blair – enjoy your Sneak Peek!
